Shimoda's Action X v3 line adds a carry-on 35L Pro Kit, PFAS-free materials and a 3D airmesh harness. The new Insider Sling costs $129.95.

Shimoda refreshed its flagship Action X backpack line on November 2, and the headline is a new 35-litre Pro Kit sized to international carry-on height while taking a 180-600mm or 200-600mm lens.

Everything in the v3 line is now 100% PFAS-free — fabrics, coatings and hardware — with a padded 3D airmesh harness, three Capture Clip mounting points and a bigger side door that reaches two cameras with lenses mounted. Shimoda's own store lists the X35 v3 Pro Kit at $449.90 and the new Insider Sling at $129.95.

The sling is the one I'd actually carry. Shimoda says it fits a body with two mid-range zooms or a body with a 70-200mm attached, and a sliding divider reshapes the space without pulling it out. My own kit is a body and one zoom, so that's the shape it's built for — and the first thing I'd want to check is how that divider handles a gripped body.
