Canon Rumors is reporting that the EOS R7 Mark II is coming in Q1 2027, citing a source they describe as "fairly reliable" with a track record of being "correct more often than not."
The current R7 is Canon's flagship APS-C body, and it's been due for a refresh. Canon Rumors had previously said it wasn't coming in 2026, and they still believe that. A Q1 2027 launch would put it ahead of CP+ in late February, which makes sense for a high-volume seller.
No specs yet. Canon Rumors says another source called it a "massive" step forward for Canon's APS-C lineup. That's vague enough to mean anything — could be a new sensor, could be better video, could be both.
I shoot MFT with the GH7, so APS-C rumors don't hit me directly. But the R7 II matters because it's the body that could finally give Canon a real hybrid answer to the Sony A6700 and Fujifilm X-H2S. The original R7 was good but not great. If Canon puts a stacked sensor and 4K60 without crop in the Mark II, that's a real shift.
For now, it's a rumor. A believable one, from a source with a decent track record. But until Canon says something official, treat it as a "watch this space" note, not a buying signal.
