
On January 23, 2025, Panasonic released new firmware for 6 cameras including S1R, S1, S5M2, S5M2X, GH7, G9M2, and 4 lenses including S-R1635, S-R24105, S-E70200, and S-R70200.
The new firmware updates for the cameras are as follows:
S1R Ver.2.1
- When using Panasonic retractable lenses, pop-up information has been added.
- Improved operational stability.
S1 Ver.2.4
- When using Panasonic retractable lenses, pop-up information has been added.
- Improved operational stability.
S5M2 Ver.3.2
- Enhanced subject detection function
- [Airplane] and [Train] have been added to the identifiable objects.
- [Specific Part] option has been added to the [Car][Motorcycle] detection mode.
- Added the function of displaying multiple frame marks
- Up to three frame marks can be displayed at the same time.
- Added the crop zoom function
- The crop zoom function can extract the center part of the image to enhance the zoom effect without reducing the image quality.
- Added the hybrid zoom function
- Hybrid zoom seamlessly combines optical zoom and digital zoom to provide more convenience for users.
- Compatible with the “MP4(Lite)” recording format
- The low bit rate video format “MP4(Lite)” can now be selected.
- 3.8K (3840×2560) 29.97p 50Mbps
- New picture size [XS] option
- You can now select images with smaller file sizes [XS].
- Compatible with new functions of the LUMIX smartphone app “LUMIX Lab (Ver.1.3 or later)”
- Remote shooting is now possible.
- Shutter remote control is now possible.
- Images selected on the camera can now be transferred.
- Functions changed due to security enhancements
- When connecting the camera and smartphone directly via Wi-Fi, the connection has been changed to always require password authentication. (The [Wi-Fi Password] menu has been deleted).
- When connecting to Wi-Fi via an access point, the [TKIP] encryption method is no longer supported.
- When connecting to Wi-Fi via an access point, the [No Encryption] option in network authentication is no longer supported.
- The function to transfer images to a PC via Wi-Fi has been deleted. (European models only)
