There has been recent news regarding the replacement for the Panasonic S1H. In an interview with CineD, Matt Frazer revealed that the Panasonic S1H will “eventually” be replaced.
This follows the recent launch of the Panasonic S1RII, which made waves in the industry. Addressing the long wait before the S1RII was launched, Frazer explained that Panasonic waited to determine the correct sensor for the destination camera. The right sensor selection is a critical factor in the enhancement of camera performance, where image quality, shooting speed, and high ISO performance are influenced.
In following the seen strategy with the S1RII, Panasonic may also take time to select the appropriate sensor in developing the S1H successor so that the performance of the new device will meet market demands.
Panasonic’s release date for the S1H successor remains to be seen at the moment. Frazer only said that a replacement model will arrive “eventually.”
But it was also reported that another Lumix camera will be released in April, with reports that more information regarding this specific camera will be revealed at a later date. This would imply a connection between the April release and the S1H replacement, perhaps laying the groundwork or teasing the eventual release of the S1H replacement.
